Review -Ready, Set... Grow!!!

Chapter 19Learn from master gardeners(Find a mentor)

I trust we all had a restful holiday.? I couldn't share during the holiday.

The author of this book really have a way of titling her chapters to make the lessons learned stick. she has a way with words and i am really thankful to God i came across this beautiful book. God bless Dondi Scumaci always.

The author stressed the need to find a mentor and also to be a mentor to someone. We all need mentor (s) in our lives. We all need someone to lean on. According to her the greatest stumbling is on the inside, not the outside. What this simply mean is that we all have a lot going on inside of us. Many a time we do not have a way of letting them out. We have ideas and dreams but we need the guidance of trusted people or people we look up to - to help us actualize and model our goals.

Mentoring builds the heart and forges confidence. People who have been mentored tend to earn more. Mentors will see the things you don't see. They bring a new perspective - a new way of looking at old things. Mentors help you generate options and push you to explore them.

A good mentor is a sounding board, a trusted advisor and a visionary. A lot of successful people can point to mentors who have help them achieve the level of success they currently enjoy. Mentoring is helpful if you are in transition, managing change or preparing for a next step.

Mentoring is  real-time and customized. It is not about doing lunch with your mentee. Best mentoring also facilitates self-discovery.

Who needs a mentor? everyone, and that includes me.
As you look for a mentor remember to be one. As you reach forward with one hand, reach back with another and bring someone along....!!
