The book- Ready, Set....Grow !!!

CHAPTER SIX
BREAK THE WORRY HABIT

According to the author, worry is the greatest stumbling block of the mind and i could't agree less. Why worry so much? Many of us have a masters degree in worry. Some of us have perfected our act of worry with a life time practice and in all of our worry nothing of good value is gained. Oh wow, we are just professionals with a lot of experience but have nothing to show for it. All we have got to show is our sad face and our coiled lips.

Worry will never change an outcome, solve, or initiate a miracle. But my dear, creativity will, persistence will, action will, prayer will. Worry cannot do any of these, instead, worry will keep you from doing all the right things that will make a difference. What we focus on will feed and what we feed will grow. why worry then?
You need to understand that when we feed our problems with worry, they will grow.

Dondi, the author gave an example, ''imagine throwing your car into reverse, slamming your foot on the gas pedal, and trying not to bang into something'' a good analogy of worry.

Worry and fear cannot live in the same space with hope and action. When we allow fear and worry to set in, hope and action are driven away.

STEPS IN BREAKING THE HABIT OF WORRY.

  • Firstly, is to become aware of when you are worrying and what you are worrying about. Catch yourself in the act of doing it, Pull it in the light and face it.
  • Make a worry list, Take out time to write down those things that are causing you emotional distress, fear or anxiety.
  • When you are done with the list, cross off anything you cannot personally control or impact. This process may cancel out your list or reduce it.
Action is a cure for worry. The moment we focus on the action we can take, the decision we can make, what we can do, my dear a critical shift will occur. We see that we move from a state of worry, into a state of action.

Stop worrying, it makes you miserable.
